What is the level and quality of supervision?

All of our staff are all qualified in coaching at least one sport, many are qualified teachers and all have a working with children clearance and CPR certificate if not first aid. Almost all staff have multiple holiday sports camp experience and all have plentiful coaching experience.

The area at Collaroy Fields and the Youth Centre is as safe as any outdoor playing area could reasonably expect to be. It is on a cul-de-sac so traffic is a very minor issue. There is an enclosed indoor area if we need the kids corralled at all (this has a capacity of 200). Of course we are fully insured.

Further to this the area at Collaroy Plateau Playing Fields and the Youth Centre is as safe as any outdoor playing area could reasonably expect to be. It is on a cul-de-sac so traffic is a very minor issue. There is an enclosed indoor area if we need the kids corralled at all (this has a capacity of 200). It goes without saying that we are fully insured.

What is the coach to child ratio?

Staff to child ratio is a maximum of 12:1. We aim for 10:1 but need to make room for anomalies.

What is the maximum number of children that attend the camp?
The maximum number of children we will sign up is 150 with 15 coaches and one head coach overseeing the operation. We have a wonderfully, big, safe area with fields, cricket nets, netball court, tennis court and an indoor facility. In addition to this, we are a 10 minute walk down to Collaroy Beach!

Has Teachers In Sport run sports camps before?
Not under the name Teachers In Sport as this is a new operation. However, our company’s directors have:
    • Run camps for different organisations and for ourselves at Ravenswood School for Girls, Gordon, Belrose Tennis Club, Macquarie University, Wilton Tennis Club, Wimbledon (UK), the Park Club, Chelsea (UK) and Kensington Prep School, South Kensington (UK).
    • Coached in and run more camps than we care to remember over the past 10-12 years as well as coordinating sports programs in both Australia and the UK

How do you cater for different age groups?
All the activities are tailored to the appropriate age and ability level. Over the course of the sign up process we know in advance the age range of our students and the program is shaped accordingly. Suitable equipment is used for every age group and groupings that take the friends into consideration are done on request.

   What happens if it rains?
We still go ahead, that’s for sure! If the famous Sydney weather lets us down for one or more days we luckily have a large indoor facility where we can keep the children sheltered and dry. A modified program which is more focussed on passive games is put into action. Only on the longest and wettest of days will we resort to a DVD or a trip to the Cinemas at Collaroy.

Can I book individual days at the camp?

Yes. Please enquire for our most up to date daily rates for the camp.
