At a recent Australian Independent Schools PDHPE Conference, I had the opportunity to participate in a workshop provide by Ben Grozier and Peter Carpenter from Teachers in Sport. The practical workshop dealt with "Generating Constructive Feedback to Increase Student Achievement in PE and Sport". As presenters, both Ben and Peter were well prepared, knew their content, used a variety of activities, worked well together, and were obviously passionate about their desire to offer teachers the chance to both upskill and refresh their PE teaching methods.

| I thoroughly enjoyed the PCS Teachers In Sport course and found very useful in my role as one of my school's PSSA coaches. The guest coaches had a wealth of knowledge and taught me many useful skills that I have since taken back to my PSSA soccer team. I know through professional discussion that the netball coaches at our school and non-coaching teachers found it equally rewarding. The ongoing support from TIS has been incredible. I receive updates via email giving me great PE ideas and activities for my year 5 class. I would recommend any teacher attend a course to gain new skills to help make our kids more active! | Teachersinsport's session was very beneficial for my staff. The presenter provided great insight into how to manage large groups of kids, and how to then deal with problematic kids with in the same group. He used great case studies and allowed for a good flow of discussion and learning. I would recommend their services to other sports providers. |

At International Grammar School we teach children from K-10 in a variety of sports. Teachers in Sport came to us armed with information! We received coaching advice, tips, drills and many games ideas for soccer and cricket. The information given was varied, specific and detailed and was suitable for those of all ages, levels and abilities. The drills and games taught not only allowed us as teachers to develop our skills, knowledge and understanding, but also boosted our confidence in teaching these sports to children of a range of abilities. The coaches were approachable, informative and the course was great fun. The hardcopy information they provided listed all the drills and coaching points undertaken which is a great help. Some of us have already used the drills taught in our lessons, and the children loved them! We could also use the various soccer skills given in other sports, which has been great. The do’s and don’ts of coaching that TIS informed us of made us really think about the best way to teach these students and to see greater improvements in a shorter space of time. We walked away from the session bouncing ideas off one another and are looking forward to getting them back in the future!

Teachers in Sport coaches offered our school a interactive, fun and useful professional learning session on Basketball and Touch Football. They provided many practical skills that really work with my class and the kids can't wait to get out and learn more about the game. The teachers and students are looking forward to having Teachers in Sport out to our school again. Our whole staff want to come to the next PL activity run by Teachers in Sport.

‘I am happy to say that I was one of the inspirations for Teachers In Sport! I approached Ben (TIS partner) to give me some private lessons in ‘how to teach tennis’. My situation was that I had 28 Year 6 girls, no court or fences, approximately one racquet per two children and 45 minutes a week in which to give them a constructive lesson. 3 lessons later I was well versed in the art of ‘self rallies’, ‘ball on racquet tag’ and ‘knuckles up and knuckles down’ grips. The students were engaged and their improvement was noticeable. It has been great to watch Teachers In Sport’s team of experts go on from here and deliver so many positive and useful courses to so many schools to the benefit of so many students.

Teachers In Sport were amazingly beneficial to our staff when it came to teaching us relevant skills and drills in a concise and enjoyable manner. In the course of one day long session we were taken through the basics of soccer, basketball and cricket. At the end of our course all of us felt we were armed with a bagful of techniques to take back to our students in order to not only learn more about the sports we are required to teach but to deliver the lessons in a way that the students engage in much more effectively. The resulting improvement in our PE lessons has seen students waiting around in queues less (one of the key TIS ‘do nots’) and participating more throughout the course of their PE lessons.

‘" I was fortunate enough to partake in the Teachers In Sport tennis course with the aim of improving my knowledge advice from (Director - Class Coaching) for use in my P.E. teaching.
Teaching in a relatively challenging school with below average tennis facilities, and a sport most students really weren’t accustomed to was quite a daunting prospect.
Class Coaching was able to provide me with a program of effective and challenging drills catering for all students and ability levels within the class.
The activities were easy for me to administer and each lesson allowed for progression of skills already learned. The students thoroughly enjoyed the unit of work and most importantly had lots of fun!
For anyone wishing to teach tennis effectively in a whole class environment or even if you are just looking for fresh ideas, then participating on this course is a must."

As a parent who had just volunteered to coach my son’s under 8s soccer team for the 2010 winter I, like many parents, felt that all I was going to contribute to their soccer development was a safe environment and hopefully some exercise. Another parent told me about Teachers In Sport running courses where they ‘coach the coach’ and it sounded like a good idea. It was! After just a two hour course I had several drills that were age and standard appropriate, safe and enjoyable for the kids. They even improved in front of my very eyes as each week of training went by. I would highly recommend these courses to any parent who even though is willing to help with the coaching of a junior sports team feels stranded due to a lack of experience in coaching before.
